Overview
The Geospatial Intelligence and Applications Laboratory (GeoIntel Lab) at the IIT Tirupati Navavishkar I-Hub Foundation (IITTNiF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), the NIC Geospatial Division, and CogniAI as the Platinum Partner, successfully conducted the Grand Finale of the National AI/ML Hackathon on 27 June 2026. The national challenge brought together over 1,450 participants and 370+ teams from 19 states to develop innovative AI-powered geospatial solutions using SVAMITVA drone datasets.
Main Information
- Challenges: AI-based Feature Extraction from Drone Imagery and AI-driven Digital Terrain Model (DTM) Generation from Drone Point Cloud Data.
- Evaluation: 38 shortlisted finalist teams presented their solutions across four dedicated halls at the Lecture Hall Complex (LHC), IIT Tirupati, through 8-minute presentations followed by 7-minute Q&A sessions with expert jury panels.
- Technical Sessions: Featured expert talks by Dr. Abijith Devanantham (Technology Innovation Hub), the CogniAI team, and Mr. Harsha Vardhan Madiraju (Open Geospatial Consortium). Special addresses were delivered by Lt. Gen. Dr. Anil Kapoor and Mr. Varadarajan Krishna.
- Awards & Recognition: A total prize pool of ₹0.405 million recognized 18 outstanding teams for technical excellence and practical applicability. Notable winners included AIML-F-008 (SIMATS Engineering) for Innovation Champion and AIML-F-038 (Hexailigence Private Limited) for Innovation Runner-up.
