GNSS Test Bed Development and Validation
Summary: Development and validation of a GNSS test bed for evaluating satellite navigation receivers, signal performance, and positioning technologies under conducted and radiated testing conditions.
Detailed Description:
The GNSS Test Bed is designed to support the testing, validation, and performance evaluation of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technologies, including India’s indigenous NavIC system. The test bed provides an experimental platform for assessing GNSS receiver functionality, satellite signal reception, navigation performance, and system-level behaviour under controlled laboratory conditions.
The project encompasses two testing configurations: conducted mode and radiation mode. Conducted-mode testing, which involves direct signal connections between test equipment and the device under test, has been completed. Radiation-mode testing, which evaluates GNSS devices through antenna-based over-the-air signal transmission and reception, is currently ongoing. The facility supports practical experimentation, receiver validation, and research in satellite navigation technologies.
Status:
- Conducted Mode: Completed
- Radiation Mode: Ongoing
Technology / Research Area: GNSS, NavIC, satellite navigation, RF testing, GNSS signal simulation, receiver performance evaluation, antenna testing, and over-the-air validation.
