Data Science
Data is the fuel of the current world. Data in geospatial is vast. In particular, GIS and remote sensing have more dark data. Data science, an interdisciplinary field, provides insight from dark data using probability statistics and Machine Learning. Spatial data science, a subset of data science, focuses on geospatial data. India has introduced National Geospatial Policy to collect and use geospatial data for the betterment of our society. The Data Science group in iNiF will concentrate on developing infrastructure to store geospatial data at TIH computing centre and dig dark data for better Nation-building including education, skill development and incubation.
Our team will guide the nation to have a look at the geospatial data in all directions that includes
- Exploring dark geospatial data
- Offering diploma course in spatial data science
- Training in spatial data science such as geodata programming, ML, AI, big data etc
- Big data analytics on spatial data science
- Project submission to develop products to help farmers and citizens to alert on crop management and disaster management
- Nurturing innovative ideas in the young minds of that nation by guiding UG/PG students PhD/PDF scholars and encouraging them to develop products and then create startups.
At the moment, the Data Science team is working on
- Establishing a data center for storing the geospatial data.
- Collecting geospatial data from various organizations of India such as the Survey of India, National Spatial Data Infrastructure.
This young and dynamic group of Data Science at iNiF has 5 members with rich experience in data science and reasonable experience in geospatial data science.
